What caused the Copy File Failure error was that the hacker had inserted htaccess files with different creation date/time than the ones I had searched for. Which was prohibiting the upload of the 5.2.0 installer file. Once I batch deleted those, the update worked.

Do you insert htaccess files into your SCP source?
Say, in /administrator/components/com_securitycheckpro/scans/.htaccess ?
Because I did a general search for htaccess files (no create date) and this was one of many files found.
This is what was in it:

Yes, that file is legitimate and is part of Securitycheck Pro's firewall.
If you want to check which .htaccess files are original Securitycheck Pro files, you can unzip the Securitycheck Pro installation package and browse through its folders. That way, you can compare the .htaccess files included in the ZIP with the ones you have on your site.

Strange, I didn't see any htaccess files in the com_securitycheckpro distribution files for SCP 5.2.0. So I batch-deleted them all from the site. How do you recommend I restore them? I did take a backup before I did all of this replacing — it includes the bad htaccess files. This time I'll wait for your reply.

The files are definitely there; I check this with every release. If you're using an FTP client, sometimes these files may appear as hidden files, so that could be why you're not seeing them.I've included the exact paths in the private part of this message so you can check them.
