Hola Jose,
I am having a problem updating SCP from 5.0.3 to 5.2.0. This site was hacked and numerous htaccess files were inserted throughout the site blocking direct access to php files preventing updating of extensions, and I presume, Joomla. I executed a find operation targeted at htaccess files with a specific file creation date to delete them and am able to update most extensions, but SCP is failing. I got a File Copy Failed error, and also the following:

An error has occurred.
0 Too few arguments to function Joomla\Plugin\System\Securitycheckpro\Extension\Securitycheckpro::__construct(), 0 passed in /plugins/system/securitycheck_spam_protection/src/Extension/Securitycheck_spam_protection.php on line 691 and at least 1 expected

How do I overcome this?

Instead of just updating, I was thinking I'd try uploading the installer package file via ftp and then install it. The above error broke the whole site so I restored from a backup I made before starting this process.

Options:
1. Disable SCP and retry
2. Upload a fresh 5.2.0 installer file and install it over SCP

What do you recommend?

Hi azurelinksc,

Just update the spam protection plugin before Securitycheck Pro. This will solve our issue.

Regards,
Jose

I still get the Copy File Failed error message when trying to update SCP. (Didn't get the previous message and the site didn't break.) I'm thinking about uploading the installer file? And even if I try to upload it using Joomla's Extension installer, I still get the same message. I uploaded it via FTP. Does that mean I have to discover it?
I fixed permissions in Admin Tools. tmp directory is 755
Suggestions?

Sorry, I forgot to reply to that part.

The "Copy File Failed" error usually happens when some of the Securitycheck Pro files don't have the correct permissions or ownership.

For example, if a file was modified or uploaded as root, Joomla's installer — which normally runs as www-data or another restricted user on shared hosting — may not have permission to overwrite or replace it during the update. This would result in exactly this kind of error.

I would check that nobody has changed the permissions or ownership of the Securitycheck Pro files. Alternatively, you could propagate the correct permissions/ownership over the whole extension folder to make sure everything is consistent.

Depending on your hosting environment, you may need to ask your hosting provider to help you with this.

Jose

Thanks Jose.

Is this the correct command to use?
chown -R username:groupname /path/to/directoryname

Well, anyway, it looks like the owner/group were not changed.
