htaccess file removed was created by HBAGG
Hi
I have just had some issues on a website with URLS /links not working going to 404 .. and when I look at the security pro centre it says There isn't a .htaccess file concerns me as you helped me a few weeks ago and we generated a new one to achieve an a security rating.
There is also a malware report that public_html/.htaccess hashtag has changed.
Do I just generate a new htaccess file .. will that restore all the menu links?

Hi HBAGG,

Yes, you need a .htaccess file if you use SEF in Joomla. So just generate a new one from the .htaccess protection. If the malware scanner warns you about this file, add it as exception.

Jose

But why have menu links broken

Because sites with mod_rewrite enabled (SEF in Joomla) needs an .htaccess file to work.

why/how has it been removed?

Check if Securitycheck Pro is configured to move files rated as "High" to quarantine (Global configuration -> File integrity -> Move to quarantine). If so, the file should be listed under "Quarantined" into the malware scanner tab. Just disable this option to avoid this situation in a future.

Regards,
Jose

I am extremely concerned about how my htacess file can suddenly be replaced without my knowledge . when I am the only one with access.
