All Geolocation features will be removed from Securitycheck Pro since 3.1.11 version, that will be published on February 2020. This is a consequence of
changes on the licensing
and availability of MaxMind's GeoLite2 Country Database.
On December 2019 MaxMind announced a change in its licensing and its distribution model for their free database due to international privacy legislation such as EU's GDPR and California's CCPA. Now as soon as someone makes a request to remove their IP address in accordance with either of these legislative measures both MaxMind and all sites using its database need to immediately remove that information. As a result MaxMind now has a more restrictive license which makes it illegal to disseminate their database with my software and puts you on the line for some rather large fines if you use an outdated version of the database.
As spoofing the IP-based location has always been trivial and useful only to deterrent less technical visitors I decided to remove all Geolocation features from Securitycheck Pro.
This has not been an easy decision, but we should expect that the lists will get more incomplete as MaxMind actions such IP removal requests, so country based geoblocking based on these lists might become like a Swiss cheese (full of holes).
