Installation problem was created by SzymonG
Hello!
I'm trying to install Securitycheck PRO (the free version automatically unistalled). However the installation process fails and I'm getting the following warning:
"SQLSTATE[HY000]: General error: 1709 Index column size too large. The maximum column size is 767 bytes."
It has never happened before. Any suggestions how to fix this and install the plug-in?

Joomla 3.8.10, MySQL 5.6.38, PHP 7.0.27

Thank you.

Hi Simon,

Are you using MariaDB database? Yesterday someone reported an similar error like yours and it was related to the MariaDB version.

I use Mysql and never got an error like that.

Jose

Eeeee... :) You knocked me out with this question! :) I have no idea. How will I check it? With the website host?
If you mean Maria DB Server the answer in NO! I'm using servers located in Poland.
Simon
P.S. I will try to install Securitycheck Pro on different website and we will see if it works. :)

Hello! I've got the answer from my hosting provider!
My website isn't using MariaDB database. It's standard MySQL. Which brings us back to the original problem - how to solve my installation problem.
Maybe that's some configuration problem because I have just installed Securitycheck Pro on another website (the same hosting provider) and everything went fine.
So where's the problem. Could it be a clash between installed plugins?
Thank you for any help.

Try this:

Go to Extensions -> Manage -> Database and check if there is some alert there. If so click on the "Fix" button at the right top of the page.

Try installing the extension.

If this doesn't work go to Extensions -> Manage -> Manage and look for the term "securitycheck". Uninstall any extension listed.

Try installing the extension.

If this doesn't work go to System -> System Information and export it as text. Do that for both sites (where installation fails and where is sucessfull). Send me the files to the email from which you receive forum notifications.

UPDATE: I have seen a forum entry with the same problem and it seems it's related to database collation.

Regards,
Jose
